My Story
I received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Psychology from the University of Kentucky, finishing in 1996. From there I began what became a 25-year career working for a community mental health center which would change me in profound ways, both as a therapist and as a person. Through the years, I have worked with children and adults with so many different issues, but have found that we all share in common a desire and the ability to heal, no matter what our wounds. I have had the honor of helping people in so many journeys to cope with immense trauma, childhood abuse, anxiety, depression, suicide thoughts, and self-harm behaviors, ADHD, OCD, substance use, and much more. I have helped parents to deal with their children’s mental health issues and the many struggles of parenting, worked as director of a children’s intensive treatment program, and became a parent of three children myself! I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reconstruction) therapy to treat trauma and other anxiety related issues. I also have knowledge regarding LGBTQ issues and am a strong ally for this population, and I serve on the board of directors for both Danville Ky Pride and PFLAG Danville Ky. If you are looking for a safe place where you will be seen and heard, and helped to use your strengths to find healing, I am here for you!
